Targa Telematics has partnered with Hyundai Connected Mobility to integrate data streams from Hyundai vehicles into its fleet platform across Europe, extending its data offering for fleet operators.

The integration is designed to give fleet managers access to vehicle data directly from Hyundai models without installing additional hardware. It covers different generations of vehicles, allowing operators to manage mixed fleets of newer and older models through one platform.

The link-up will support services including maintenance, stolen vehicle recovery, claims management, fraud detection, driving analysis, activity reporting and electric vehicle oversight. Data available through the platform is set to include real-time vehicle location, mileage, vehicle status, fuel or battery charge level, diagnostic trouble codes and tyre monitoring information.

For electric fleets, the integration also includes access to battery charge levels, remaining driving range, charging status and energy consumption data from Hyundai electric vehicles. This would allow companies running electrified fleets to track daily use and charging patterns without adding third-party devices.

The deal reflects a wider shift in fleet technology towards using embedded vehicle data from carmakers rather than relying solely on aftermarket telematics hardware. For fleet operators, that can reduce installation time and simplify deployment across large vehicle groups, particularly where vehicles come from multiple brands and model years.

Targa Telematics has been building a strategy around multi-brand fleet data integration, and the Hyundai agreement adds another manufacturer to that approach. The company provides telematics and connected mobility services to rental groups, financial companies and large fleets, covering uses from insurance telematics and diagnostics to remote vehicle monitoring.

Hyundai Connected Mobility, which manages connected car services for the brand in Europe, said the partnership is intended to widen access to native vehicle data for business customers. The arrangement puts business user consent at the centre of vehicle data access and is structured in line with European rules governing the use of connected vehicle data.

Marcus Welz, Chief Executive Officer, Hyundai Connected Mobility, said: "At Hyundai Connected Mobility, we're committed to helping our customers unlock greater value from connected vehicle data through trusted partnerships and open collaboration. By working with Targa Telematics, we're making it easier for fleet operators to access native vehicle data and turn it into actionable insights that improve operational efficiency, support the transition to electric mobility, and simplify the management of connected fleets across Europe."

OEM data

The use of factory-fitted systems instead of separate devices has become a growing focus for fleet software providers as connected vehicles generate more usable operational data. Access to that information can support maintenance scheduling, insurance-related processes and theft recovery, while also giving fleet managers a broader view of driver behaviour and asset use.

Targa Telematics said its model is based on integrating original equipment manufacturer data streams into digital services that can be used across fleets with different vehicle makes. In practice, that means a company operating Hyundai vehicles alongside other brands can view information through a single system rather than multiple manufacturer tools.

The company also highlighted the operational benefit of avoiding aftermarket hardware installation, which can add cost, increase downtime and complicate rollouts for large fleets. That is likely to be particularly relevant for leasing groups, rental providers and corporates that need to activate services quickly across existing vehicles.

Alberto Falcione, Vice President Sales, Targa Telematics, said: "The collaborations we are pursuing with automotive manufacturers aim to deliver new mobility services through the integration of data streams from vehicles equipped with native OEM systems. This reduces the operational impact deriving from the installation of aftermarket solutions.

"The partnership with Hyundai Connected Mobility GmbH represents another step forward in our multi-OEM integration strategy. It strengthens Targa Telematics' role as a data integration partner for leading automotive manufacturers, enabling customers to manage multi-brand fleets, including electrified fleets, consistently through a single digital ecosystem. Our objective is to simplify the integration and harmonisation of data streams, making them easily accessible through Targa Telematics' digital platforms while ensuring rapid deployment and the highest operational efficiency."

Targa Telematics said it holds TISAX Level 2 certification, a standard used in the automotive sector for information security, in line with Hyundai Connected Mobility's security requirements.
